Sometimes the Nice Ones Finish First

Did anyone else watch The Biggest Loser this season? Hooray for Michelle! Hooray for beating out Evil Vicky and Whiny Heba! Hooray for being nice the whole time (at least in front of the cameras)! This season was the worst as far as mean people and contention goes (hello, Heba, what's your deal with Phil?), and it was such a relief to have one of the nice girls win. From the beginning I was cheering for Colleen, but after she got the boot and it was down to Renee and Michelle vs. the evil ones, I started cheering for Michelle.
Usually you feel kind of bad for the first few people that get the boot from the ranch, because when they show up at the finale, they look pretty much the same as they did when they left the ranch. But this season everyone that came back looked fantastic. I think Jerry, the 51-year-old cop that looked like he was 70, had the biggest and best transformation. When I saw him at the beginning and found out he was younger than my parents, I figured he'd be dead before he made it to the end of the first week. But at the finale, he looked amazing, and, more importantly, like a 51-year-old man! Vicky was conniving and mean and vindictive the entire time, so even after she had lost 100 lbs, she still looked ugly to us. Tim thinks she looks a bit like a bulldog. I think if she had been super nice and sincere, she wouldn't have looked so much like a bulldog to us. Heba was weird all season, and annoyingly bossy, but as irritating and bossy as she was, we couldn't help but gasp in awe at her transformation. Tim and his calculator figured out that if she hadn't been eliminated before the final 3, she would have won the whole thing. That's pretty impressive. Doofy Ed looked pretty amazing, too, and after Tim found out that Ed is a pro chef, in the South, no less, and managed to lose that much weight, Tim kind of wanted him to win the whole thing. But hooray for Michelle!
And there's a new season in January that they promise to be even bigger and better! (Bigger, literally, because there's a guy on there that weighs over 400 lbs, and he's only 19.) New Year's resolution: To do push-ups and crunches while I watch the new season.

I often think about how I could easily squeeze in some exercise while watching my favorite shows on TV. Instead I snack and lounge. [sigh] Someday the pregnancy weight will come off. For now I'm just going to pretend the weight is all in the chest.

Yay! I'm glad she won. I liked her the best. I was bummed I missed the finale but thanks for letting me know.

I didn't watch any episodes of this season except for about five minutes of the finale. My only input is that Sammy (I only know her name off of Days of Our Lives) looked ginormous to me! I kept thinking, "whoever that is, they did not lose any weight." Then I realized it was the host and then I realized she was pregnant.

Oh also I noticed you are reading The Eyre Affair- I LOVED this book. It took me awhile to understand what was going on, but then I was in awe of the cleverness. Let me know what you think when you finish it....

I loved the finale. I was wanting Michelle to win. I am so glad that Heba was not in the finale (especially since she would have won.) I was very impressed how much those that were voted off lost. Stacey that was voted off in the first week, looked fantastic.

GREAT! I had someone record the finale for me, because I couldn't watch it, and now I guess I already know who wins! But on that note...YEAH MICHELLE! I agree with you about nasty Vicki and whinny Heba. It totally made me mad when Vicki was so vindictive towards Phil and when they ganged up on Amy just because they didn't like Phil. When everyone came back to try and win a spot back onto the show and Vicki was so nasty, I just wanted to punch her!!!!
Anyways, I'll still watch the finale as soon as she figures out how to get it from TIVO to DVD.

Agree with you on all points. I knew as soon as the three finalists came out that Michelle was going to win, and I think that Ed and Vicky knew it too based on the looks on their faces during the weigh in. Michelle was smiling from ear-to-ear and rightfully so. If Vicky had won I would have been sorely disappointed. Yea Michelle!

Sorry Stephanie, I know what a bummer it is when you haven't watched yet and someone spills the beans. It will be a while, though, before your friend will be able to get the show from Tivo to DVD, I'm afraid. It took Tim ages to split wires and do some fancy electrical work before he got anything off ours. If you happen to have the Fine Living Network, though, they show reruns of the show.

I haven't seen any of this season. It takes awhile for shows to get to us here. I think that they're just starting to show season one of Pushing Daisies, and it is now canceled. We do get the big ones (like American Idol and Dancing with the Stars) sooner - but they're aired the next day. I guess I'll look forward to watching this next season. BTW, my verification word was ousNERD. I guess even the computer knows me for what I am.

Isn't this next season great so far? I think we told you that I know one of the teams - the black team - Dane and Blaine both went to high school with me and Dane married a friend of mine. But it turns out that there is another team from Mesa - the Tongans. They grew up in Greg's stake. Isn't that crazy to have two Mormon teams from Mesa? I wonder if they both knew eachother - I imagine so since they all went to Mesa High. Anyway, it's made this season really fun to watch. Too bad Joelle is still there - that was a shock.
